The Czech tennis player and former Wimbledon winner Jana Novotná died at the age of 49. after a long and tough battle with cancer.
In her career, in addition to winning Wimbledon in 1998, she celebrated 16 Grand Slam titles in doubles - four at Wimbledon, three at Roland Garros and the US Open and two at the Australian Open.
For 14 years, when she was active player, Novotna won 24 WTA titles with 76 trophies in double competition, and she also won two Olympic silver medals. With the Czech national team she won the Fed Cup in 1998.
In her probably most famous match Jana Novotná defeated France Nathalie Tauziat, 6–4, 7–6 and won the title at the Wimbledon 1998.
