Markell Jones scampered through the Indiana defense for 217 yards as Purdue handed the Hoosiers a 31-24 defeat on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Purdue won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -2.0-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 51.0.
Markell Jones rushed for 217 yards, while D.J. Knox added 48 yards in the win. Anthony Mahoungou and Cole Herdman added 88 and 26 receiving yards respectively.
Ricky Brookins rushed for 71 yards for Indiana, while Cole Gest added 40 yards. Richard Lagow threw for 373 yards for the Hoosiers, while receivers Taysir Mack and Simmie Cobbs had 132 and 105 yards respectively.
Purdue lost the offensive yardage battle to Indiana 497-453 yards in Saturday's game. Purdue had more first downs as that total ended up 22-20.
The time of possession battle favored Purdue as their offense was on the field for 30:25, longer than the 29:35 of their opponents.
